Samia

One Liner: Really great indie rocker with famous parents

Wikipedia Genre: Indie rock, alternative rock
Home:  NYC

Poster Position: 14

Both Weekends. Saturday.

Thoughts:  Heck yeah.  I threw this one into Spotify expecting that I'd be doing another R&B artist, but this is more of a Soccer Mommy/Lucy Dacus/Japanese Breakfest type slight rock with good lyrics train.  Dig it.

Samia Najimy Finnerty is her true handle, and she is the kiddo of two actors.  Kathy Najimy has been in all sorts of stuff - The Wedding Planner, Hope Floats, Hocus Pocus - and also used her voice talents in Wall-E and King of the Hill.  Dan Finnerty is the singer with the cuss-filled rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart at Will Ferrell's wedding in Old School, and he was also in Starsky & Hutch, The Hangover, and the Terminal.  With parents like that, she not only has some good tunes, but she also received an Obie Award, which is given to off-Broadway show actors, and she has also been in a movie (that I don't know) called Let Them All Talk.

Her first single was "Someone Tell The Boys," from 2017.  4.5 million streams and a jagged set of guitar riffs.
Love the way it kicks in for the chorus and then stays brawny afterwards.  her next single is called "The Night Josh Tillman Listened to My Song," which is a funny title.  Bunch of singles until 2020's The Baby, her one and only album, which was followed up by a 2021 EP named Scout.  her top streamer is "Big Wheel," with 12.7 million streams.  It is on the one album.
That video is a TikToking nightmare, but also kind of funny.  And a really good song that treats you to some soft rock and a little more chugging rock once the chorus kicks in.  She does a good cover of "The Promise" as well.  Let's do one more just because I am really enjoying this.  "Django" is a 2018 single and her second most streamed at 5.7 million.

I like the more rock and roll tunes, rather than that sad and serious one, but it definitely showcases the power in her voice.  I'd absolutely go watch this one.
