Armani White

One Liner:  Philly rapper with just a few tracks, but all good stuff
Wikipedia Genre:  No Wikipedia, this is rap
Home: Philadelphia

Poster Position: Late Addition.

Weekend Two Only.

Thoughts: Surprisingly solid rap music here.  I don't know if Armani is normally a dude name, but I fully clicked on this name expecting to go through yet another indie R&B girl singing about love and loss.
But its a dude!  And a rapper!  He bounces between areas on the rapper spectrum, sounding a little like Chance on "Onederful," then Lil Wayne on "flip," then spitting with speed like JID on "stick up," then going all jazzy and beeboppy on "NYC Window."  It's all pretty tight - he just only has seven total songs, so it doesn't take long to fire right through them all.  But his flow on "casablanco freestyle" sounds very fine.

Top streamer is "Public School," with 985k streams.
Has some pieces that sound like Ludacris, but its a good flow and interesting track, even if the beat is pretty base.

White was attending Delaware State and uploading tracks to Soundcloud when his future manager hit him up over "Stick It Up," which did well enough to be featured by Pharrell on his radio show.  He then got gigs opening for Big Sean and BIG KRIT, before his father passed away from cancer and he hung it all up.  A few years later, he came out of his funk and created "Onederful" after his neice randomly sang the chorus hook while they were hanging out.
You hear that Chance vibe?  The horns, the happiness, the soul?  All there.  Kind of a cool video, splicing together all of those videos and photos and even using pieces of live tunes in the midst of the song.  Solid track.

Newest release is "flip," released on June 25 and already up to 204k streams.  Sadly, this is not the full song, just a teaser video.

Yeah, man, I like this dude.  I wish he had more tracks, but his flow is good, his beats are solid, he seems kinda funny and not too self-serious.  Sure, let's go.
