Friday Pilots Club

One Liner: Alt. rock teetering in between Muse and Imagine Dragons.
Wikipedia Genre: No Wikipedia, going with rock and roll.
Home: Chicago

Poster Position: 23

Weekend Two Only.

Thoughts:  No Wikipedia, and their website doesn't tell too much, but they apparently just signed to Big Machine (the Taylor Swift label) and have a very catchy rock sound that sounds like something that could get popular quickly.  Kind of a Nothing But Thieves or Highly Suspect sound - definitely guitar driven but also danceable rock.  The guys met at school together and formed this duo (although someone has to be playing those drums, despite neither of them appearing to be handling that part?)

Now, the name?  The name blows.  I can't find any explanation for it.  But using "pilots" certainly brings a different, very popular band to mind.  Other weird thing?  The lead singer sounds like he has an accent, and yet the band is from Chicago.  Like he's trying to sound like the Muse frontman despite not actually being from Bristol.  Which is odd.  See "Would You Mind" for this affect.

No real album, just a handful of singles available on Spotify.  Their oldest is their most-streamed - "End of It" has 710k streams.
Solid song.  Nice groove, cool sound.  I like it.  Their most recent single is called "Glory," released in February, and currently with 222k streams.
That drum beat and guitar drop makes me think of some Imagine Dragons stuff and I'm less inclined to like them.  With a total of six songs, its hard to get a real locked-in feel for who these guys really are, but here's to hoping that their sound is more like that first single rather than the new one.

Depending on the timing, I might give them a shot.  I like rock and roll.
