Governors Ball 2018 Announced!

Now, I'm not trying to say that Governors Ball is up on the same level as the Big Four of Festivals, but in the past they have been able to land pretty sweet headliners and put together a good lineup.  This is not one of those years.

Looks like this is the year that Eminem is the go-to headliner.  Which is really too bad, as the new album is not good and the last time I saw him at ACL he was lip syncing obviously.  His old tracks can still be fun to jam out to, even if he is faking it, but when you can literally watch the guy drop the mike to his waist and the lyrics maintain their same volume?  Kills the experience a little bit.

I'd like to see Jack White again.  I wish it was the White Stripes, to be honest, but the last time I saw White it was a great rock and roll show.

But then the next four "headliners" are a real head-scratcher.  Travis Scott is terrible, more famous for getting arrested during his crappy shows than his actual music.  The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were going to headline Sound on Sound, which sounded appealing, but there is no way they should be the fourth biggest band at a major festival.  Halsey is not good.  NERD is kind of interesting, but their new album is pretty bad after a few listens.

They covered up one group with a yellow thing.  They angled that yellow thing, I think with the purpose of letting you see just a bit of the name.  If you let your imagination run, the pieces of letters that are poking up above the yellow stripe could be L, C, and D.  So maybe that is LCD Soundsystem, but if that was the case, that should definitely be above stupid Travis Scott's name.  And it still wouldn't save this lineup.

That being said, I like Khalid, Chvrches are great, The Gaslight Anthem is fun, Wolf Alice, Margo Price, and the Struts are cool.  But these posters both (this one and Coachella) angle REALLY hard for the young, horrible rap movement of mumbly garbage and R&B-lite hooks.  I wouldn't go to this festival.
