Freya Ridings [No Longer Playing the Festival]

No official announcement I can find, but Freya Ridings is no longer listed as playing.  So, go enjoy the tunes here, but know that you're not getting them in a few Sundays.

One Liner: Norse goddess with stunning voice and the superpower of tear activation.
Wikipedia Genre: None, but I'll go with Indie rock, indie pop, baroque pop, chamber pop, art rock, art pop, neo soul, folk (which happens to be the F&tM genres).
Home: London

Poster Position: 23

Day: Sunday at 11:30
Weekend Two Only.

Thoughts: Holy crap, man.  Where did Florence & the Machine Jr. come from?  Redhead with an absolutely beautiful voice - powerful and gorgeous.  Only a few singles, and then two live albums (which seems like a really odd way to release music, but whatever).

Multiple cool covers, including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps" and Hozier's "Work Song."  Her top track, by a mile, is one of her four 2017 singles, "Lost Without You," with just over 15 million streams.
Soooo, its totally cool to just tear up at your desk, right guys?  That's the usual reaction a cool guy should have while listening to music for a sweet Festival party time.  Whooo, man.  That is a great song, and just killer in its simplicity and impact.  Slight tangent here, but I also freaking teared up this morning while driving to work because Jason Isbell's "What If We Were Vampires" came on the radio, and that song absolutely guts me.  So welcome to my middle aged menopause moment!  Woohoo!

She is named after the Norse goddess Freja or Freya, who is kinda bad ass.  She is a goddess associated with love, sex, beauty, fertility, gold, sweet Norse sorcery called seiðr, war, and death. I mean, what else is there?  She kind of took all the best stuff to rule over.  "Freyja is the owner of the necklace Brísingamen, rides a chariot pulled by two cats, is accompanied by the boar Hildisvíni, and possesses a cloak of falcon feathers. By her husband Óðr, she is the mother of two daughters, Hnoss and Gersemi. Along with her brother Freyr, her father Njörðr, and her mother (Njörðr's sister, unnamed in sources), she is a member of the Vanir. Stemming from Old Norse Freyja, modern forms of the name include Freya, Freyia, and Freja."  Hell yeah, Thor lady.

Here is the "Maps" cover, which is up to 2.7 million streams.
OK, tear ducts.  You are officially being assholes.  I need to go purge my brain with Metallica for the rest of the day or something.

One more, because it is her newest single, released June 15.  "Ultraviolet" already with 288k streams.
Yeah, that is another good one.  She keeps her arrangements spare and intimate, so that her voice is the showcased star of the show.  Damn good.

Although this seems a bit tender and intimate to survive translation to the big stage, I'd give it a shot.
