Thoughts: You've almost certainly heard the big hit from this guy (which surprisingly has very few streams on Spotify), or at least I have heard it repeatedly on the local radio stations.  Huh, I thought that was a huge single... Here is "Shine," which sounds like Dylan revisiting his notion of how often everyone must get stoned, over sweepingly grandiose arena rock jams.  4.3 million streams.

That song is freaking great.  Just well crafted and ready to fly.  I got to see them play at Stubb's during SXSW this last March, and as you can expect, the sing-along-ability of this song's chorus is off the freaking charts.  Everyone in the crowd was blaring it at the top of their lungs.  And the rest of the show from the group was also really fun - high energy rock and roll stuff.
The main guy in the band is named Joshua Ostrander, who was apparently with a few other bands (Laguardia and Eastern Conference Champions) before he fired up this new performance name and grabbed some other guys to play with him.  No real album yet available on Spotify, just singles.  The most recent single is a good one, laid back piano and beat jam that makes me think of the late 90's.  Here is "Plastic Soul," at 367k streams.
It borders on rap the way that Beck does, but then the voice still sounds like Dylan trying out some new moves for a modern generation.  And then at the end it just hammers home some rock jubilation.  I dig it.  "Sixes and Sevens" is more of a punk rock blast.  "Higher" is a drum machine-backed track that starts out sounding like something from Pharrell Williams. "Automatic" makes me think of that superbonbonsuperbonbon song.  "Hold on to Me" is another that makes me think of Dylan singing over a Beck beat, but also of that "supergroup" from the 90's that was called the Hindu Love Gods.  We'll see what he can do with a full album, but the tastes we have here are pretty solid.

Recommend?  Yes.
