Slot: Friday, ?

Thoughts:   I literally said "ooooh" when I first heard the lead singer get started.  Really pretty voice.  Two EPs, with 2016's Tides a more organic sounding indie pop and 2017's Afterglow a little more beat driven.  As examples, the kind of disco-fied drum dance tune of "Tounge Tied" (new album) vs. the more classic sound of "Salt," (old album) their most popular track overall with 1.4 million streams.  This is "Salt."

Although this next track is only the third most listened to track on Spotify, and comes from that same older EP, I just like it too much to ignore it.  Love that shimmery guitar work, this is "Far Away."  326k streams.
Great voice and cool sound for the rest of the band as well.  I like this stuff.  Now, the newer EP though, it adds a layer of gloss but I still think it sounds good.  Here is the most listened to track from that one, "Run For Your Life."  37k streams.
Yeah, still good, even if a little more poppy and produced.  More of a retro feel on the chorus too, late 70's glammy disco-fied rock.  The singer is just plain good.  Her name is Taylor Baker (the band used to be called Taylor and the Wild Now) and it is surprisingly difficult to find out more about her with a 3 second google search.  Most blurbs about the band are very cursory about actual history.  (and this weird ad for advertising, or whatever it is, is especially strange...  although interesting that they tout a connection to C3.)  But here is one with an actual interview that sheds some light on them - Taylor is actually from Austin originally.  Anyway, I've enjoyed these tunes and would welcome seeing these guys in the Fall.

Recommend?  Yeah.
