Kurt Vile and the Violators [updated]

Not sure about the Violators, because none of his albums list them as contributors, so we are just going to go with Kurt Vile by himself on this one.  He's a super chill Philly songwriter with a real slack, laconic vibe going on in his music.  According to bios, he was once part of War on Drugs, but bailed out when they became popular so as not to interfere with his solo work.

Prior to now, the only song I knew by him was one that Rolling Stone had pimped a while back, "Wakin' on a Pretty Day," which just happens to be his most popular track on Spotify, with just over 5 million listens.
This is just about what the rest of his catalog sounds like, with a few odd departures, some relaxed rock to chill to.  That song comes from his 2013 album, Wakin on a Pretty Daze. Prior to that, he has been like a Ryan Adams music releaser, firing out albums or EPs dated 2008, 2009 (x3), 2010 (x2), 2011 (x2), and 2013 (x2).  His second most listened-to track is "Baby's Arms," from Smoke Ring for my Halo (2011).
Reminds me of Paul Westerberg.  I've spent two entire days running through his catalog, and its all really nice music.  Few, if any, songs really stick in my mind after a listen, but the overall feel of the albums is one of relaxation and pleasure.  I like it.  That being said, not sure I'll go out of my way to see him at the festival.  We'll see how the schedule shakes out.

[update 9/28/15]  Vile fired out a new album last week or so, and it sticks to the same script with a pretty solid result.  The opening track, used by the ACL folks as one of the 12 songs to showcase their lineup for the year, is smooth and excellent.  He's got a definite vibe - and this locks right in with it, his nasal vocals and tightly picked guitar.  Cool lyricist and good relaxed feeling throughout.
