Calliope Musicals

DIY-sounding psych rock heavy on the xylophone.  Just one five-song EP from these cats, but they are apparently into the live shows.  Here is a track not found on their EP, called the "Echo of the Whoos."  I'll give you one guess what the chorus sounds like:

Raucous and fun, although their recorded EP is trippier.  And seriously full of so much xylophone.  I haven't heard that many mallet strikes since high school band.  The EP has one song with more than 3k listens, but most of the album is in the 1,000 range.  So this is truly a local band trying to make it big with the ACL gig.  The lead singer has strong pipes, the music is sufficiently funky, and its a pretty cool sound overall.  My guess is they are even better live.  Although I doubt I'll be at the fest during the 11 am type slot these guys will get, I bet they'll put on a fun show.
