Thoughts: When I pulled up this guy, I was certain that I was going to recognize his hit song.  His name is familiar to me, although I couldn't tell you what he sings.  But nope - nothing in his catalog sounds familiar at all.  Wikipedia says he is best known for a feature on Rihanna's "Stay," from 2012's Unapologetic.  That song isn't on my radar at all, so he's not famous to me because of that tune.  He was featured on a Clams Casino song, and I remember listening to that album a few times, so maybe from there?  Dunno.  Weird.

Actual name is John Stephen Sudduth, and he got started in Nashville as a song-writer before deciding he could make his own music.  The tunes are kind of generic indie/electronic pop stuff - none of this has stuck with me after a few spins (although some of these sound familiar from their use in TV shows/commercials).

His first EP was released on 2009 (Strange Fruit), followed by two more EPs in 2010, called Reds and Blues, respectively.  Then a couple singles, a bunch of remixes, and then 2015's Time.  He has a 2018 EP called Advance Copy, so it appears that a new album is on the way.  I won't be aiming to hear it.

The top tune is "Smile," from that 2015 album.  Just over 23 million streams.
Yeah, OK.  Cool sounding voice.  But the song itself doesn't do much for me.  Fine.  Honestly, I've run through his whole catalog twice and his top ten a few extra times, just to see if I could catch a spark.  Nothing.  It just glides on past my ears without anything.  After the large popularity of "Smile," he really doesn't have anything else in that over-20-million range.  One other tune from that album has 11 million, but I'm going to give you the most popular of the new tracks so that you can hear the "new" sound.  Here is "What's It Like Now," which has 948k streams (and sort of more, because its already been remixed repeatedly).
Meh.  Stop saying that!  Also, for your edification, here he is doing that same song, live.  Weird to see them creating these sounds, and him with his gigantic mountain man beard but singing like a pretty boy.
Nope.  I don't want to go see this done in person.  Y'all enjoy and tell me how it was.
