Thoughts: The Mercury Montclair was a line of automobiles made by Ford Motor Company in the 1950s. Montclair bottled water and Montclair cigarettes. The USS Montclair or Operation Montclair, a military operation by the US and Australia during World War II. Or, more likely, they are from a town named Montclair, since there are many of those.
There are, apparently, multiple bands that use this name. I have a feeling that our Montclair is the Austin indie folk-rock band made up of siblings Casen, Anna, Jackson, and Clay (and not the Connecticut-based hardcore punk band or the community band in New Jersey. There is very little online about the band, no (easy to find) articles, interviews, whatever. Well, there may be a facebook page, but that is blocked on my computer so I can't go see if that is really the same band. They sound kind of like Briscoe and kind of like Ryan Adams, but with a pretty low key, DIY folky rock sound.
One album, 2025's Heart is Alive! and then a handful of singles and an EP before that. Not a ton of music, got started in 2024 with the title single to that album, and since the album they've released two more singles. Top track is a 2025 tune on their Passing Through EP. "Pastel Lies," with 72k streams.
